Do you think that you’re too busy to worry about the amount of trash that you produce? I get it we’re ALL busy ALL the time, at least it seems that way. I’m a mom of four so trust me, I know how valuable time is and I have no intentions of wasting yours. It will be most convenient if you pick a certain time of the day to restock your kit . I chose to make sure my kit is ready to go before I go to bed. Read below for the top three essentials that you can fit in your purse or small bag to minimize your waste while you’re out and about (this post may contain affiliate links which means if you purchase an item through my link that I may receive a portion of what you spend, this doesn’t increase the price and know that I don’t recommend any products that I wouldn’t use myself. Thank you for helping to support this blog):
Mason jar or stainless steel water bottle
These are easy to find, affordable, and most importantly; versatile. I use my mason jar for drinks, snacks, and even trash to take home and sort through if I’n not near a the proper bin. I use the wide mouth pint size jars, you can find them at almost any store or here if you’re having a hard time finding any. I believe they are only sold in multi packs, I encourage you to buy them from a store in your town since that seem to be more affordable than when buying online.
Cloth napkins are so much handier than you may think. I use these every day at least once a day! I use them to clean up my counters, to wrap a snack in, to dry my hands, and even to blow my nose (not in that particular order, but they have many uses). The best prices I’ve found is during summer time at Bed, Bath, and Beyond; they usually have a large pack for little more than a dollar a napkin and if you don’t want or need a pack of 10 plus napkins you can check out their clearance section for individual napkins.
This you should already have on hand. Although I did order these sporks, I’ll still grab either a spork or a fork out of my silverware drawer and toss it in my purse to have on hand. This simple step will help cut back on all the plastic ware you use when there is a surprise food day at work or for that snack you gout while running errands.
If you’re a straw person, do the ocean animals a favor and buy a pack of stainless steel straws, they come in different lengths, ,shapes, and even different colors. I personal prefer these eight and a half inch straws but I also have these awesome straws for my kids who just HAVE to have straws when they get a fun drink like chocolate milk or juice.
Just tossing these three items in your purse will help you to avoid TONS of single use items and at the end of the day you can just toss them in the dishwasher or laundry and they’re good to go again the next day. No more disposable coffee cups, paper towels, or plastic spoons, just easy to use and wash items instead.
So if you’re up for it, I challenge you to use these items to replace as many single use items as you can this week. Make sure to comment below all that you were able to replace with these items!
